A Tradition of Excellence

The program's roots stretch back to the early 20th century. In 1936, band director, Mr. Heard accepted the position at Natchez High School and quickly established a tradition of musical excellence. Under his leadership, the band consistently earned Superior ratings in Mississippi State Band Contests. Heard directed until 1953, later remaining active in the Natchez music scene and mentoring young performers.

Modern Era

Today, the Pride of Natchez continues to thrive under dedicated directors and staff who carry forward the legacy of excellence. The band is led by team a team of talented directors such as Mr. Jamien McCallister, Mr. Marcus Washington, Mr. Quincy Grady and Mr. Kerry Brown who focuses on musicianship, discipline, and community engagement. Also, the band is comprised of our wonderful Gold ~N~ Blues, the dazzling Golden Flashers and the beautiful Bluzelles. The coaches are Ms. Emily Campbell, Contina Minor, and Mrs. Cherie Irving.
